Inside Polygamy: Approaches and Solutions

This specialized training takes an in-depth look at the history of polygamy, its doctrines, how it became illegal and went underground in the Western United States. This power point provides photos of historical figures; both notorious polygamist leaders and the officials that attempted to squelch its practice in America. The FLDS Church is the main focus of the training with a detailed account of Warren Jeffs and how he controls members. Details regarding other polygamist groups, their similarities and differences can be included in a seminar.  This training covers shocking accounts of killings for God, rates of birth defects from inbreeding, and how millions of dollars in governments programs are supporting this extreme cult. The information shared during this training is based from statistics, news articles, historical accounts, documentaries, and personal experiences. Ms. Chapman shares how individuals can help, what personal approaches bridge barriers with followers, as well as what symptomatic features individuals present when exiting the cult.  This social problem is vastly expanding with compounds in Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, South Dakota, California, Idaho, Canada, and Mexico.
Seminars can be adapted with a focus for a particular professional audience.  Ex: child welfare, law enforcement, domestic violence service providers, attorneys and GALs, Judges, medical staff, and mental health professionals.

Hinckley as saying in 1998: "I wish to state categorically that this Church has nothing whatever to do with those practicing polygamy. They are not members of this Church. Most of them have never been members. They are in violation of the civil law. If any of our members are found to be practicing plural marriage, they are excommunicated, the most serious penalty the Church can impose."
