Laura Chapman is an accomplished Social Worker, advocate for survivors of polygamy and public speaker.  Ms. Chapman’s seminars offer a “one of a kind” in depth look into the world of polygamy.  As an Alumni from the University of Utah, she continues to carry on the true vision of Social Work by reaching out to change the crude reality of the very community she left in 1991.
From accident of birth,  she experienced 28 years of “field work'” within polygamist communities before receiving a formal education. From such a background comes an understanding and insight that few can ever hope to grasp.  In 1998 she joined three like-minded women and challenged Utah Officials by protesting at Utah’s Capital regarding the lack of equal protection for children in polygamy. She's a recipient of the National Organization of Women  “The Women of Courage Award.”  Her comments and letter writing campaign (she initiated) were essential in passing laws in the State of Utah’s Senate to protect children in polygamy from further exploitation.
In speaking before the United Nations in 2002, she brought the human rights violations occurring in polygamy to an International audience and was nominated for the “Robert F. Kennedy" Human Rights Award.

Laura's family (the Mackerts) one father, four mothers and 31 siblings.  Laura at 13 years old in FLDS attire.  Graduating from the University of Utah in 1999.  Protesting at Utah's State Capital.  Speaking at the United Nations.
